When Andrew from Cars R Us contacted me to review an exciting new product I was happy to do so. When I found out that it was the new Blakliquid Clay Cleansing Cloth, I jumped at the chance. My poor 180sx had been neglected in such a thorough detailing for quite some time.

With the usual speedy service as expected from Cars R Us, the package arrived early the following morning.

Included in the pack is:

– Blakliquid Clay Cleansing Cloth in blue (Dimensions are approx: 31cm x 33cm).
– Clear Cloth Case/Container for storage when not in use.

I was lucky enough to have some Blakliquid detailing liquid sent through as well. (Sold separately).

You will also need some clean microfibre cloths for the post detail wipe down.

The first step is to obviously wash your car. Making sure that it is free of any loose dirt or dust. From here, make sure you spray down your detailing liquid, or detergent to act as a lubricant between the cloth and your paintwork.

The Blakliquid Cleansing Cloth is one side normal microfibre material, and the reverse is a clay type matting. This is the workable side that you will be rubbing your car down with. Make sure to also spray the clay side of your cloth as further lubrication.

From here you want to start rubbing down your car. I must stress at this point that very little pressure is required to get the most out of your Blakliquid Cleansing Cloth. Literally the weight of the cloth alone is enough for it to work efficiently. Just enough pressure from your hand to move the cloth is all you will need.

As you slowly begin to move the cloth over your car you will hear an abrasive noise. Don’t stress. Because you’re only lightly moving the cloth over the car, the noise you can hear is the clay side of the cloth running over your paint imperfections and road grime. As you continue to work the same area of your car, (making sure to keep the cloth and panel lubricated with your spray) you will notice it become quieter and quieter. This is because those imperfections are being removed. Feel free to rotate your cloth and use a cleaner side depending on how bad your paint work is.

The benefit of the cloth is that unlike a standard claybar, this is cleanable, so if you’re worried that all the contaminants are going to start rubbing on your paintwork from the cloth… CLEAN IT!

After you’ve rubbed down the respective panel, you will need to wipe it off to clean up.

Then all that is needed is to break out the microfibre cloth that you prepared earlier, and dry it off. As you saw earlier, the Blakliquid Cleaning Cloth does have a microfibre side, however this will be wet from your work. Depending on how grimey your paintwork was, it may be worthwhile to give it a quick hose first.

As you can see from the following pictures, I had a lot of hard to remove road grime on my wing mirrors. I had already washed my car and tried scrubbing this off with a normal sponge, and a bug remover sponge.

After Blakliquid: (I just cleaned the surface area of the wing mirror, I hadn’t gone near the lettering on the mirror.

The Blakliquid Clay Cleansing Cloth is much more gentle on paintwork than the more commonly known clay bar. When accompanied with an appropriate detailing spray, technicians rarely need to perform additional polishing to the vehicle after its use. This is due to the softer working surface as well as the way the cloth absorbs the contaminants much more efficiently. This in turn prevents the user from inducing new scratch whilst it’s being used.
