PTC Brisbane Powerlifters
Recently I was asked by Scott from PTC Brisbane to come along and take some photos of his powerlifters. They were training for GPC State titles the following week. This means that as one of the last training sessions, the lifters were looking to dial in weights for lifts, so some big numbers were going to be moved.
When it comes to moving big numbers, everyone goes all out. No excuses.
Everyone in this gym are un-equipped powerlifters. The only aids being belts and knee wraps
It can be quite daunting psyching yourself up for heavy weights. Especially when you have them sitting on your shoulders, grounding you to the pavement.
Ricky is a monster, but still takes his time before every lift, willing every once of strength.
There are 3 disciplines in these competitions. The Squat as above, The Bench Press, and the Deadlift.
Encouragement is welcomed. Usually in the form of primal screams and yelling support. It works.
By no means is powerlifting a male sport. There were a number of ladies showing their strength including Scott’s wife Tish.
Scott with 272.5kg on top of him.
Matty Stenzel was in great form, however in training for States, injured his knee. He is now fundraising to get the proper surgery to allow him to be fit for worlds. You can DONATE HERE.
As the night came to a close, the biggest lift yet was still waiting. Ricky was lining himself up for a MASSIVE 325kg Deadlift.
Which he nailed. A Herculenean effort.
PTC Brisbane is a true family when it comes to this sport. Nothing but encouragement and striving for strong. Check them out HERE.
